May 18th

Field Trip: Gwernygo Grange and the Trail of Stone, A marvellous drive along the High Roads of Mid-Wales which the medieval traveller, whether monk or stone carrier favoured. Led by Dr John Davies. A Self-Drive (car share) trip.     Start :11 am at the Abbey Exhibition Room, Home Farm, Abbeycwmhir LD1 6PH

July 20th        (Sat)

 

Annual Pilgrimage. Strata Florida to Abbeycwmhir. Leaving Abbeycwmhir at 07.30 a coach takes us to Strata Florida Abbey in Ceredigion where the Pilgrimage starts at 09.00 hrs. The walk is approximately 25 miles long and the country is rough grassland for the most part and is not suitable for beginners. Finish time is usually about 6pm at The Philips Hall, Abbeycwmhir.(cf Walks). 

September 22nd (Sunday)

14.30 hrs. 'The Strata Florida Project and observations on Abbey Cwmhir'  presentation by Prof David Austin, Chair Strata Florida Trust. This is The  Annual Founder Cadwallon Lecture at the Philips Hall, Abbeycwmhir LD1 6PH

October 5th

Field Trip to places associated with Llywelyn ap Gruffud at Cilmery and Aberedw led by Dr John Davies. Details to be announced.

November 30th Saturday

The Christmas Cracker Walk - circular self-guided walks around Abbey Cwmhir. (cf Walks for details and application form).
December   8th Sunday

- 13.00 Memorial Service for Llywellyn ap Gruffyd in the ruins*

- 14.15 Annual Lecture in Philips Hall by Prof Maddy Gray, The Cwmhir               Tympanum and the Cult of the Virgin MAry in Wales. At the Philips           Hall, Abbeycwmhir LD1 6PH

- 15.30 AGM in Phillips Hall

All these events, except for the Excursion and the Abbey of Cwmhir Study Group, start from or are held in Abbey Cwmhir with parking at the Phillips Hall or the Home Farm by permission of Mr and Mrs Hamer.

Access to the ruins is open, free, all the year, with permissive entry through Home Farm and free parking in tarmacked carpark near CADW's information centre.
